Alexey Mordashov’s TalentTech acquires leading freelancer markeplace

TalentTech, a technology company and a division of the Severgroup private investment company that makes long-term investments on behalf of Alexey Mordashov, has acquired 97.5% of is the largest marketplace for freelancers in Russia and Russian speaking countries in terms of revenue and traffic and is focused on digital services such as programming, web marketing, design and copywriting. The service has 1.7 million MAU (monthly active users).

TalentTech bought the shares from’s co-founder Anton Mazhirin, financial investors Vitaly Martyanov and Artem Bektemirov, and the company’s management.

Vladimir Tarkhanov, Chief Executive Officer of, is leaving the company, which he has headed since 2013. Eugene Barulin, Head of Freelance at TalentTech, will be appointed as the new CEO. Anatoly Orlov,’s Chief Technical Officer, will continue the technical leadership of the business.
We can see how technology is changing the shape of the labour market. According to research by Data Insight, conducted for Avito in November 2017, Russia’s services market currently employs 10 million people and is estimated at 8.6 trillion rubles per year (about 115 mln. euroes). According to Superjob (a leading jobboard in Russia), one third of Russian companies are already using freelance services, which give companies the opportunity both to cut costs and access scarce specialists. Freelance growth is a global trend.
